In the series of articles "The "Puppet Army" on the Chinese Battlefield, as well as an oral interview with Mr. Zhang Guojun, the author mentioned that the vast majority of Chinese pro-Japanese troops were recruited by the Nationalist government after the end of World War II. Since the Nationalist Government was the only legal government in China recognized by the vast majority of allies in 1945, and because Manchukuo, the Mongolian Autonomous Government, and the Wang Jingwei regime all opposed communism, most of the pro-Japanese troops were incorporated into the ROC National Army after the war. Of course, as the forces of the Kuomintang and the Communist Party rose and fell in the next four years of civil war, there was a former "puppet photo background removing army" who joined the central government at the beginning of their victory, and then defected to the CCP camp before the two sides were divided in 1949. The most famous of them is Wu Huawen's reorganized 96th Army, which was reorganized into the 35th Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army during the "uprising in front of the battle" during the Battle of Jinan. This elite unit, formerly known as the 3rd Front Army of the Peaceful Founding Army, fought all the way from the Battle of Xu Beng to the Battle of Crossing the River, and then raised the red flag over the Nanjing Presidential Palace. The "puppet army" is not like the direct line troops of the Central Army. It will be like the reorganized 74th Division on the Menglianggu battlefield, the New Sixth Army and the New First Army on the Northeast battlefield, or the Fifth Army in the Battle of Xu Beng. In the battle with the Communist Army Fight to the death. They did not surrender at the first sign, or hurriedly withdraw from the battlefield before the battle broke out, so it was rare for them to be killed or captured. This means that there are still a considerable number of "puppet troops" who retreated to Taiwan in 1949 and became the main force in defending the Republic of China.
